Girl Friend Bag | Friday, June 16, 2017 10:00am – 2:00pm
Snap it open. Snap it closed. Two great looks. In this class, we will follow the step by step instructions for assembling this handy, dandy handbag for your jaunts throughout the countryside this summer. Not too big and not too small and with a roomy inside pocket divided to suit your every need. Add a firm, foam-like batting and your bag will nicely keep its shape through rain or shine. Neatly snap it closed with three magnetic snaps. Dress it up with a funky button and presto, you are ready for anything. Even beginners can do it!

Youth Sewing Club | June 30, July 7, July 21, August 4, August 18, & September 1, 2017 1PM-4PM
Has that creative daughter of yours been after you to help her with some easy sewing projects? Why not sign her up for our youth sewing club this summer and let us help. We will cover the basics of cutting with scissors and cutters, lining up and pinning raw edges, nesting seams, ironing, and pressing fabrics. We will do a different small project in each class including a pillow, apron, journal cover, etc.
The perfect way to keep your girls occupied with a constructive hobby during the upcoming summer months. All 8-16-year-olds are welcome to join.

Demo Day of the Month | July 15, August 12, September 16, October 21, November 18, December 9 10AM-1PM
Are you ready for a break from lugging your big machine in and out of the shop for class days? In this class, we will have different Bernina feet, rulers, and sewing supplies that we will demo and talk about each month. You will be able to participate using our machines and accessories. In this way, you will be able to gain expertise and knowledge regarding the varying tools and their uses and allow your creativity to flow at a new level.
We will try the Spanish Hemstitch Attachment, needle punch tool, ruffles, fringe foot, cut-work, crystal work, and paint-works tools, half square triangle and flying geese rulers, the angler tool, color wheel, binding tool, wonder clips and sew much more. All machine feet and accessories demoed will be Bernina, but this class is not inclusive to Bernina owners only. All are welcome!

BSR Blitz | Tuesday, July 18, 2017 10AM-2PM
There is no time like the present to get rid of the dust on that tin box and rekindle your friendship with your Bernina Stitch Regulator. In this class, we will don our quilting gloves and give our BSR a whirl! We will do thread painting, embroidery, free motion quilting, appliqué and much more. We will try the three different sole plates, experiment using BSR 1 and BSR 2 and stitch using our straight and zig zag stitches. You will go home with a notebook full of samples and be overflowing with inspiration and ideas that will take your BSR skills to a new level of creativity.

Beginning to Quilt Runner | Saturday, July 29, 2017 10AM-2PM
We are once again offering our tried and true beginning to quilt runner class for those who would like to quilt and need an easy project to gain confidence and skill. We will lay aside our scissors and templates and let you see and feel for yourself how accurately and quickly you can cut squares and triangles using your rotary cutter and ruler.
Sew your blocks together with a 1/4″ foot to achieve the perfect 1/4″ seam and experience the feeling of satisfaction when your corners line up precisely. We will briefly cover the basic rules of appliqué when we add some pre-cut hearts down the center of your runner. Lastly, finish your project by doing a pillowcase style binding and quilting a stitch in the ditch with your walking foot.
This basic runner is bursting with sewing and cutting tips. You will meet other like-minded friends in this class and above all, we are here and happy to help you get started in your quilting hobby. Two classes.

Stupendous Stitching | Tuesday, August 15, 2017 10AM-2PM
Finally, you get to take a class where there will be no rules, no detailed instructions to follow and no iron or pressing to do! You will begin by punching wool roving into a felt or wool fabric using your Bernina needle punch tool. Combine fantastic colors, free motion couch down fancy ribbons, eyelash yarns, or cording. Finish by adding an array of decorative stitches.
This is a great class to take to gain confidence as you use your needle punch tool and free motion couching feet. Would like to take the class but do not have the proper tools? We would love to have you try out our set of tools and feet for the duration of the class. Let your imagination run wild and free as you work at creating your own textured fabrics.

Wrapped Ribbon Table Runner | Tuesday, August 22, 2017
Did you just find out that you will be stuck at home all summer while your friends are having a great time at the cottage or beach? Why not challenge yourself to a project that will take all your concentration and get your mind off yourself and the fun you are missing.
This paper pieced runner is a project designed for those of you that would like to give a smaller paper pieced project a try before diving head first into a large project without really knowing where it will take you. Cutting templates and preprinted foundation paper will be included with the pattern, as well as detailed instructions on the A-Z directions for cutting and piecing your project. This is a very precise quilting technique that will allow you to sew perfectly sharp points for your Mariners star atop an elegant pieced ribbon like background.
We will concentrate on cutting and sewing the paper pieced sections in the first class and work at assembling the actual runner in the second class with some homework to be done between classes.

Hoop Sisters - Charmed Adventure | August 26, September 30, October 28, November 25, December 16
It is not too late to throw your name in the hat for our “Charmed Adventure” embroidery class. This heirloom quilt is pieced, decoratively stitched and quilted all in the hoop of your embroidery machine. The “Home Sweet Home” center medallion is paper pieced the traditional way, layered with wool batting and a lightweight stabilizer, then quilted in the hoop.
Create an amazing trapunto effect in your quilt by adding some wool batting to your blocks. With a layout of interesting, quilted squares surrounding a striking star center medallion, this quilt is truly a finished work of art.
Choose from five different block sizes and we will put together a fabric kit containing the fabric colors of your choice. Pre-order your bolt of battilizer and receive a 15% discount. Our new block of the month mystery quilt will be starting in September! Choose between our line of lovely grays and blacks, or our bright beautiful Batik fabric line and we will put together a kit containing all the fabrics for the quilt top as well as your first month’s instructions. You will pick up your kit in September and after that, we will mail you a new set of instructions each month for five months. The final quilt size will be 106″ square.
Just what you need to keep the winter blues at bay as you anticipate the arrival of a juicy package of instructions each month from October to February.

Sue Patten is an award-winning longarm quilter. She travels throughout Canada, the US, Europe, Africa, Australian and the UK teaching her unique and innovative quilting styles to longarm, domestic and hand quilters. Her award-winning quilts have been exhibited internationally and she has shared her quilting journey worldwide with her hilariously entertaining trunk show and lectures. Sue is always filled with high energy, humor, stories, and tips, ensuring her classes and lectures are non-stop education and fun.
Sue is the author of Quilting Possibilities and Adaptable Quilting Designs published by AQS. She willingly shares her talents and has designed fabric, thread and stencils, machine hand and redwork embroidery patterns, machine, and hand computerized quilting designs, innovative whole cloth designs and a full range of training videos.
Over the last decade, Sue’s work has been featured in dozens of magazines. She has appeared on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims, America Sews with Sue Hausmann, Quilt It!, The Longarm Quilting Show by QNNtv and Linda Taylor’s Longarm Quilting Show.
A mother of three, Sue resides in Canada when she is not teaching at shows, shops, guilds, and retreats.

Using Rulers With your Home Sewing Machine by Sue Patten

This class is packed full of ruler and tricks. It will teach you how to use a variety of different style rulers safely and easily on your domestic sewing machine. This class covers when and why to choose a 1/4″ or 1/8″ ruler depending on your machine and the ruler foot that works best with your own brand of sewing machine. Students will learn to use the new Path Easy rulers to create their own edge to edge quilting, quickly, easily and without the need to send their future quilts to a longarmer for finishing. We will also learn to use a variety of rulers for perfect feathers, a multitude of shapes and accurate, easy background fills. Come learn how easy it is to RULE YOUR QUILT with tools designed specifically for the home sewing machine quilter.
**This class requires a machine with a free motion table or base, the ability to drop the feed dogs and a ruler foot.

Finishing Up Days
Have you taken a class in our shop and are wishing for a bit of extra help to finish putting your quilt together? Bring in any unfinished class projects on the LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH and spend some sewing time with us. We will be available to help you with any questions or difficulties you may have regarding projects. Please give us a call ahead of time to ensure that there is classroom space available for you. Classroom doors open from 10 am – 4 pm so pay $25.00 and stay for an hour or stay for 6 hours, however your schedule allows.
