Squares and Strips Quilt Project for Youth| July 13, July 27, August 10, & August 24


This class is for all youth who are interested in learning to sew and quilt and need someone to show them how This neat squares and strips quilt is an easy and fun project, to begin with and will be sure to inspire you to try some more basic patterns this summer. Choose your favourite bright colour and combine it with a black and white fabric for a modern look or chose three totally different fabrics for the colour combination of your choice. We will piece this quilt using the strip piecing method as well as learning how to use your rotary cutter and ruler to cut your strips and sewing your strip sets using an accurate ¼” seam allowance. We will finish by layering your quilt top with batting and backing then do some straight line quilting before adding a binding to finish the edges. You will finish with a 60” x 80” single bed size quilt. There may be some homework between classes. Bring your own machine or rent one of ours for $5/class.

Double Wedding Ring Runner | July 21, 2018 and August 11, 2018

This traditional pattern is amazingly simple when done in the hoop of your embroidery machine with the Hoop Sisters technique. Also, the elegant quilting designs are sure to make this project a winner. You will sew your strip sets the traditional way then take them to the embroidery machine and applique them using the “in the hoop” method. The optional border is a great way to use up scraps from the strip sets as well as creating a lovely border to surround your quilt project. This is a great project for splitting up into table runners, wall hangings or doing full-size bed quilts.

BSR Blitz | Tuesday, July 24, 2018

Have you been intimidated by the BERNINA Stick Regulator and the endless possibilities it has to offer? In this class, we will share some tips and tricks that will simplify your free motion quilting process then don our quilting gloves and give our BSR a whirl! We will do thread painting, embroidery, free motion quilting, applique and much more. We will try the three different sole plates and experiment using BSR 1 and BSR 2 as well as using our straight and zigzag stitches. You will go home with a notebook full of samples and be overflowing with inspiration and ideas that will take your BSR skills to a new level of creativity.

U Pick Flowers Wall Hanging | August 7 and August 28, 2018

This neat little wall-hanging is the perfect class to join if you are relatively new to machine and piecing and applique and would like a small project to practice your sewing skills on. Using a 5” charm pack is the ideal solution for this project. You will simply slice your precut 5” squares in half diagonally to create triangles then pair up your lights and darks before sewing them together to create half square triangles which will be used to create your geometrically designed background. Add some quick straight borders for a more defined outer edge then you will be all set for some fun machine applique. Learn about tracing an cutting your applique shapes using a double-sided fusible web, placement and try out some fun decorative stitches on your machine to tack your applique down in place. Limited patterns and kits available so sign up early to reserve your supplies.

Tuffet Class | August 21, 2018 and September 4, 201



This chic looking tuffet is the neatest things and will add a touch of whimsey in your home. What may look like an intimidating and confusing pattern will all come together smoothly if we follow the instructions step by step through to the end. You will fuse your preprinted paper on to a light weight muslin fabric then use that as a base to sew your fabric strips into paper pieced wedges. By joining your wedges, you will end up with a ‘hood’ which you will strip over your tuffet form and attach to the wooden base with a staple gun. Fasten your cover button to your tuffet using a 12” large eye upholstery needle and lightweight cord. Screw your four bun feet into the base and “presto” you have finished your tuffet! Tuffet kits are available to purchase at our shop for $192.00. Each kit contains your wooden base, tuffet form, upholstery batting, four bun feet, and a large button. Quick Curved Rulers and Pineapples | August 22, 2018

Do you want to add some curves to your already beautiful quilts, yet are intimidated by the thought? In this class we will take a step by step approach to cut and sew curves with the Multiple Quick Curves Ruler by ‘Sew Kind of Wonderful.’ Put together the fresh-looking runner or follow the complete quilt pattern for a summer fresh project.

Ruler Quilting Club | September 5, October 3, November 7, December 5, 2018

Based on Janet Colins Ruler Quilt Design Book this is an amazing hands-on class where we will demo and tech how to use different rulers. Following Janet’s Sampler quilt instructions you will create a 40” x 60” heirloom quilt with your different blocks stitched out. The 6 pc Sampler Template Set and Crosshair Square Ruler are essentials to have for ruler quilting and so you’re creativity is unlimited when you learn how to place, align and use the markings.

Shooting Stars BOM | September 14, September 28, October 12, October 26 and November 9

We are now offering you the opportunity to join us for a block of month classes on the Shooting Stars quilt kit or pattern that you collected on our May Shop Hop Tour. This quilt is made up of a variety of interesting regular pieced blocks and starting in September you will come in once every other week for ten weeks and we will attach some new blocks each month. You will need to cut using your rotary cutter and ruler, piece using an accurate ¼” seam allowance and properly press your blocks as you go. So be inspired to pull out that package and get at it instead of stashing it away in some forgotten place for the next ten years! There will be some homework that will need to be done at home between classes. Also, there are kits and patterns still available to purchase for those of you that could not participate in the Shop Hop Tour but would still like to do the quilt.

Exciting in the Hoop Cork Projects | October 17, 2018

Cork is an interesting and exciting new fabric to embroider on and sew with. In this class, we will use small amounts of cork that become the showcased fabric in your projects. Sue O’ Very has some wonderfull pattern and designs to help make things fast, fun and exciting. At this time the actual project is still a secret but wait until we’re back from BERNINA University (after Monday, July 2,2018) and we will be sure to have several projects stitched out for you to see, touch and admire.

Finishing Up Days

Have you taken a class in our shop and are wishing for a bit of extra help to finish putting your quilt together? Bring in any unfinished class projects on the LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH and spend some sewing time with us. We will be available to help you with any questions or difficulties you may have regarding projects. Please give us a call ahead of time to ensure that there is classroom space available for you. Classroom doors open from 10 am – 4 pm so pay $25.00 and stay for an hour or stay for 6 hours, however your schedule allows.

We also carry all the supplies you’ll need, including felted wool in a wide range of colours and thread Valdani pearl cotton. Our wool is perfect for an applique, quilt and a variety of projects.
